Home Improvement Grants & Tax Refunds

Homeowners who are planning to renovate their homes may be eligible for grants that can help to offset the cost of their renovations. Depending on the type of renovation project, location, and other factors, there may be government grants, tax credits, or other financial incentives available. It’s always a good idea to research these options before starting any home renovation project, as they can help to make the process more affordable and accessible.

Available Options

Presently there are three methods of claiming grants or claiming tax refunds for work on your home

HRI Home Renovation Incentive is a method of claiming back the VAT on works carried out in your home we register your work online with ROS and you receive a tax refund over a two year period. Full details and requirements are available on The Revenue website.
Better Energy Homes scheme are grants available from the SEAI for homeowner who wish to improve the energy efficiency in there home. The improvements which qualify for grants are roof or wall insulation, fitting of a high efficiency boiler, controls for heating and solar panels. Further information is available from the SEAI website.
Warmer Homes Schemes are for homes that are occupied by vulnerable people and aims to improve comfort and energy efficiency.

We decided to get our house dry lined and to have a conservatory built at the back of the house.. After checking various builders we decided to go with Crystal Complete Building from Ashbourne Co. The work was carried out in an efficient manner with minimal disruption to our family life. At the end of each day the area was cleared of debris and tidied thoroughly. The building area was cordoned off and made safe which was comforting given the number of small children who play on the road each day. The timescale for completion of works was 10 weeks and despite temperatures of minus 10 degrees and heavy snowfall the works were complete on time.
